We Make the Turn

Hi Loves,

Here we are, making the turn from 2020 into 2021. When I stop to listen, I hear so many sighs of relief, like, “We made it!” Goodbye 2020! Hello 2021! Am I right?

We all can agree this has been one unforgettable year. It’s been a tremendous year. So much evolving in a short amount of time. I ask you to go back in your photos from the beginning of the year and reflect as you scroll thru the year. You are not the same person as you were a year ago, but yet there is that part that is unchanged, that has witnessed it all. That smiles at it all. Can you sense it right now? It’s from this place that 2021 is being born.

When I scroll thru my photos from this year I feel a deep sense of gratitude. I see all the beautiful landscapes I was so privileged to visit and play in. All the hearts I was able to connect with. I close my eyes and remember all the connection that was made with others in person, on the phone, thru emails, thru texts and of course the inevitable Zoom, I feel deep gratitude. Hilarious, that the Zoom Hollywood Squares made two Christmas Cards sent to me. When I sit here and write this I can remember all the time spent sitting with mySelf, being with mySelf, the connection I am most grateful for.

Yes, this year has been full of loss. And there is such sweetness around the loss, the tender spaces of the heart. No one has been untouched. That is profound! So may we use as a collective, how we have been touched, to shape 2021 to be a year of more compassion. Just look around you at all the beings acting from love, not because they tell themselves to be loving, but it just naturally moves thru. It brings tears to my eyes witnessing all this goodness that is innate within us.

This year I am embarking on a journey with Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield in their Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program. I have been doing some of the prerequisite reading which one book is Mindful of Race by Ruth King. I am seeing more clearly how racism is what has held up this country for so long. And how Ruth says, racism is a heart disease, which is curable! Honestly, I feel this is a big part of the intelligence of Covid. Racism hurts all of our hearts. As racism is getting dismantled, Ben and I are called to continue to hold Yoga and Meditation for Men virtually. We will start our next 6 Week Series on Thursdays, Jan. 14-Feb.18, 7:00-8:30PM. Topics will be Self-Love, Truth, Generosity, Living Simply, Abundance, which are the yogic teachings of the Yamas. As most of you know, I have been offering Yoga for Fulfillment at the beginning of the year, for the last 5 years. As much as I love it, I am also getting called to change it up. Not exactly sure how, but stay tuned, it will be juicy. I will be offering whatever this is that is taking form on Wednesday nights on Zoom hopefully at the end of the month of January.

Let us bow to 2020 and the humility it brought and turn to welcome the intelligence, grace and beauty of 2021!

Love to you all!

Namaste,
Shari
