How's Your Practice?

Hi loves,

How's your practice and what is supporting your practice? I haven't had a car all week so I got dropped off at Tahoe Yoga a couple hours early this morning and it was so sweet to have that time to myself in the studio where my teaching began almost 16 years ago. Thank you Walter. I got time to reflect on how my practice has changed and evolved over the years. What has been important at the different stages of my life. All the teachers I have learned from. All the relationships I have made. All the communities that have been formed. All the studios and spaces that have so graciously held. And it's all been the practice. I really can't imagine what my life would be like without one and I know that a lot of you feel the same way. But I really want to speak to those that need/want to boost their practice. There are so many resources out there, but what I find the most helpful for people is community. When we have a strong yoga community, it holds us accountable to the practice because of the connection. Those are the three biggies for me, community, accountability and connection. I am so grateful for all the wonderful studios we have in the area, providing just that. I bow to these studio owners because it is not an easy business.

So there is a change for me in that I will not be on the regular schedule at Namaste for The Practice on Fridays. With all my travel and trainings it is hard to get The Practice covered and who comes to class is usually the text group I send a message to the night before. So Ann Marie and I have set up a situation where I can rent space from her. The Practice is my very favorite. To practice and drop in together lights up my whole week. It use to be about getting to the advanced poses, but now to me it's advanced in what are we willing to be with. So we practice for 2 hours, which is a delight for body, mind and soul and it's the community that supports it.

If you are interested in being a part of The Practice I have set up a GroupMe where I can put it out to the group to ask if anyone is in. We have set one up for tomorrow, 7:30-9:30 at Namaste. It's $20 to drop in or $150 for a 10 pack. Right now it's looking like Tuesday or Friday mornings, but I might just throw one out there on a few weekends at North Tahoe Event Center if they will let me. Let me know if you want to be in the group and receive the GroupMe texts. I just need your digits. I always ask people if they still want to receive my text when they can't come because the last thing I want to do is overload people's phones, but they most often they say yes because it helps them in some way.

Lastly another way to support your practice is to join Meg McCracken and I for our Wanderlust 2019 Teacher Training starting in July. More info coming with Super Early Bird Pricing ending at Jan.31.

These are just some ideas, but whatever you do choose something to support your practice this year. It is so fruitful to commit.

Love to you all!

Namaste,
Shari
